Pure sorcerer casters are too difficult a class to be a basic class. They don't heal, they don't have pets, they take longer to learn spells, they can't change spells, they don't have many special protections that make them more resistant, they can't naturally revive other players, and what's worse, if you want to play another class as a caster you are practically forced to play sorcerer to get the +1 to evocation and the 20 extra sp. In fact, as far as I know, they have bug talents. And now on top of that, wild magics, which explodes in your face one out of five times. The company hates sorcerers... You need to have like ten past lives to make them do something, it's absurd. The best way to play a sorcerer is not to play a sorcerer, make it half paladin, wizard, anything else up to level 20 and reincarnate after having lived through the nightmare that is playing it. Ironically, a necromancer that should be more difficult is ridiculously easier, especially because no one wants to play it, so in a party no one has any use for necromancer items, so it's easier to equip it with all the advantages.

I use to play the game, 2009-2023, it just went to end game content with solo to 20 in most cases. Add to that the micro transactions on everything. It's no longer a newbie friendly game.

The confusion spells work great against reapers as a form of reaper CC. Alchs other CC spells do not work against reapers. The single target confusion spell (Hypnotic something?) enables you to confuse a reaper but more importantly, all other mobs aggro on it and the reapers fight the mobs. This creates a convenient tight group of mobs that you can then bomb.

Is it possible to change a Cleric's Domain with a Heart of Wood/Lesser Reincarnation?

It's not raining, that all Eldritch energies due to your high level Wild Magic caster. ... Seriously looks pretty neat, over a decade in DDO and it never stops surprising me :)

Thunderstorms are the best! Coolest one I saw was when I was in Japan and saw purple lightning light up the hills. Also Uber excited about everything with this expac! I REALLY want an expansion about Tiamat to n DDO but the Eberron version.

I was working on a resort on a large lake near a reservation. It was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. And after my shift (which was pretty much all day) I would do a workout in the bunk house before bed. I would sleep like a rock. On one such night a tornado tore through the back yard and dropped a 3-ton branch inches from the bunkhouse. I slept through the entire thing.

yes...that storm outside was a little big but short lived before it calmed down.. .but it was cool timing... and I recall I was looking through your previous videos when those 2 lightning/thunder strikes hit your stream... I know this because there wasn't much lightning and thunder!

I don't have much in the way of crazy storm stories, but that lighting strike during this vid couldn't have been timed better lol. I'm leveling an eladrin wild mage to try it out while doing the new racials. Honestly, this is a great archetype. I'm not a fan of "LOL-so-random" things, but the way they did the effects really is fun. This won't replace the current meta re: sorceror at endgame; the normal class will be a little better/stronger overall. However, like with Blightcaster, Dragon Lord, or even Sacred Fist archetypes, the Wild Mage is built on a strong base class chasis, so it's still totally viable even if it's not "uber optimal". Blightcaster isn't optimal over an ice druid, for example, but at the end of the day it's still a druid, so its solid. For the standard eladrin race, I also have all the other racial past lives so having the vigor SLA with metas meant I didn't need pots and could easily keep myself and party members topped off between fights without a dedicated healer. For characters that don't have the racial APs for it, i wouldn't invest the points for that over standard class abilities, but if you do have the extra APs it makes heroic leveling, especially the first 10-12 levels, so much easier. My 2 cents.

So nice that the different tiers of SLAs in the WM tree aren’t tied together, meaning you don’t have to waste AP in an SLA you won’t be using at later levels. Also, the AOE SLA isn’t gated behind Cha lvl 12 where it is now largely useless.

Hi. A bit off topic here but I'm currently doing a version of your lightning Helf sorc and in that video you ask the question: is the lightning sorc better then fire or water and then you say no. Can you specify why fire and water sorc is better? Just curious to what makes them better then lightning, the only answer I can think of is maybe better spells for the fire and water but it would be nice to know more exact why they would be better. Thanks.

The first time I ever DM'd it was just me and a buddy and it was storming outside. I began, "It was a dark and story night" and then suddenly, just on cue like at 4:50, lightning struck and thunder rolled outside. And my friend was like, "Whoa, you're really good at this. These special effects are incredible!" I will never forget that moment.

That's exactly how Pale Master plays. Necrotic Blast and Meteor Swarm just level everything, except Pale Master has massive healing and defense.

Since they reworked the Pale Master tree (I know this was years ago but I'm slow) I saw all the little sneak attack things you could get and I decided to build a drow PM7/Rogue13. I basically just play like a rogue, tearing through enemies one at a time with daggers, but I have 7 levels of wizard for Wraith form, Death Aura and Negative Energy Burst. It's not the best build, I'm sure, but it's fun and I've been able to solo everything on R1, so it cant' be that bad. I started out playing as a Pure PM, but then around lvl 13 I used a +6 Heart of Wood I had lying around to respec with rogue levels and change all my feats to suit two weapon fighting, etc. Admittedly, the difficulty spike in level 11 quests made things very difficult for me for a while, but getting into the higher heroic levels it's not been too bad. Even though I always have a Negative Spellpower and spellcrit item on me, Death Aura doesn't do as much as I like, but I can still always pop an empowered maximized Negative Energy Burst in a pinch, but tbh, I mostly only use it to help keep my skeleton alive. The skeleton is actually a pretty important part of the build, because even when he's only scaled for a level 7 he can still stay alive in high level heroics and pull some aggro which helps with my sneak attacks. Unfortunately, there's not really any room for EK in this build, or at least I don't see a huge benefit to it. Vistani is just too good. I'd like to grab the Ascendant Shroud, but it's hard to justify moving that many points out of Vistani just for that.

DDO is excellent game, but you should warn players from other countries than US, especially from Europe, that DDO synchronization between client and server is so bad, that sometimes playing it is impossible, especially for ranged characters (including magicians), because most of their shots hits the void before serwer will figure out, that player locked this enemy/mob and not the other one, barrel, box or that nice tree in the background.

Really hope there is an avatar revamp. Trying to find any nice hairstyles on most older races is so hard as the hair styles are so bad

I'm a little confused -- in the video you stress that the important skills are spellcraft and UMD and the others are secondary, but the first life build on the old forums takes Jump and UMD. Is this an error, or am I missing something?
